Art Psychotherapy

Art psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that includes the option of using art making alongside talking. You do not have to be 'good' at art to engage in art psychotherapy, as the purpose is for self-expression rather than being skills-based. It doesn't matter if you've never used art materials before. Art making is an invitation, not an expectation, so it might not be used in every session depending on how you feel.

Art psychotherapy offers a gentle and creative space to explore your inner world through image making and imagination. Art making can give form to feelings and experiences that may be hard to express in words, providing an outlet to externalise your internal world and psyche. The artwork becomes a bridge for reflection and conversation, opening pathways to talk about things that might have otherwise remained unspoken. We will explore the imagery that arises in the artwork, and reflect on its meaning for you.
